What does a Panic Attack or Anxiety Attack look like?

A panic attack or anxiety attack, is a sudden feeling of fear or discomfort that rises to a peak within 10 minutes or less and causes:

  • Pounding or racing heart
  • Sweating
  • Shaking or trembling
  • Feeling short of breath
  • Chest pain, tightness or discomfort
  • Nausea or abdominal distress
  • Feeling dizzy or light-headed
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Chills or hot flushes
  • Fear of “going crazy”
  • Fear of dying

  • Interference with daily life
  • Missed activities
  • Missed school
  • Fear of driving
