Approach
Dymond practices medication management as a careful, collaborative process — not a seven-minute med check.
She takes time to understand your history, your goals, and how you actually feel on a given medication, and she adjusts treatment accordingly. Because she works alongside Empower's therapists, your prescribing and your therapy inform each other — one coordinated plan rather than two offices that have never met. Dymond prescribes in collaboration with Dr. Philip Wasef, a board-certified psychiatrist and her supervising physician. She also consults with outside medical providers on diagnosis, medication, and treatment planning.

Do I need a diagnosis, or is it enough to know I'm struggling?
You don't need a diagnosis to book. If you know something feels off, that's reason enough to start. Part of what Dymond does at your first appointment is a thorough evaluation — figuring out what's going on is her job, not a prerequisite you have to bring.
How soon can I be seen?
Faster than the typical months-long psychiatric waitlist. Dymond is accepting new clients now, in person in Birmingham and online across Alabama, and you can start with a free consultation.
Do I have to be an Empower therapy client to see Dymond?
No. Medication management is open to anyone. If you're already in therapy at Empower, you also get priority scheduling and a prescriber who coordinates directly with your therapist.
Do you prescribe ADHD medication?
Yes. Dymond provides evaluation and medication management for ADHD, along with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and more.
Can a physician assistant prescribe psychiatric medication?
Yes. A physician assistant certified in psychiatry (PA-C with a Psychiatric CAQ) evaluates, diagnoses, prescribes, and manages medication, in collaboration with a supervising physician. At Empower, Dymond's supervising physician is Dr. Philip Wasef, a board-certified psychiatrist.
Do you see teenagers?
Yes. Dymond works with teens 14 and older, as well as adults.
Is this available online?
Yes. Dymond sees clients both in person in Birmingham and online throughout Alabama.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your first appointment is a psychiatric evaluation: a thorough conversation about your history, your health, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping for. From there, Dymond builds a plan with you and adjusts it over time.
