Our Approach to Counseling for College Students
As counselors, we use Acceptance Commitment Therapy. ACT can help you become clear about what is important to you. Additionally, you’ll see what has been standing in your way. Furthermore, it will highlight the actions it will take for you to be the person you want to be. Imagine having the kind of life you want to have.
As your counselor, we begin with really listening to what you are going through. and how this is affecting you. Then we help you uncover what is important to you – what you want your life to look like. This might take a little digging, but we will get there. So, this helps us see what is most important to you. Then, we will examine your strengths, aptitudes, interests, likes, and desires. We will also look at the areas of your life you want to strengthen. As we go through this process, you will notice your self-confidence rising. This happens because you are becoming clear about who you are. Now, you can focus on all that you have to offer and all you can achieve, once you have a plan.
Once we are clear about what is important to you, what you like and want, and what you don’t, we will create an action plan. An action plan for you to be your best self in college and in life after college. Additionally, we can help with time management, productivity, goal setting, healthy habits.
